Der Booker Prize geht in diesem Jahr an den ungarisch-britischen Autor David Szalay für den Roman „Flesh“. Das Buch handelt von einem Mann, der aus Ungarn nach London zieht und durch eine Reihe von Ereignissen aus der Bahn geworfen wird. Roddy Doyle, Vorsitzender der Jury über den Gewinner-Titel: „The judges discussed the six book on the shortlist for more than five hours. The book we kept coming back to, the one that stood out from the other great novels, was „Flesh“ – because of ist singularity. We had never read anything quite like it. It is, in many ways, a dark book but it is a joy to read.“
