    • The aim of this handbook is to provide a comprehensive summary of the field of Particle Science and Technology which includes most updated research findings and their applications in different industries. It is hoped that the consolidated knowledge described by this handbook will inspire more innovative ideas to bring the field forward. The size of the particles may range from nanometer scale, as in pigments or aerosols, to that of mined or quarried materials. The handbook will cover the topics ranging from the formation and synthesis, packing and flow, and application of these particles. Each part is explored in great details in different sections and chapters, it is written by a pool of international well known scholars, as well as industrial experts. The handbook fully reflects the state of the art in Particle Science and Technology

  • Autorenportrait
    • Professor Aibing Yu specialized in process metallurgy, obtaining BEng in 1982 and MEng in 1985 from Northeastern University, PhD in 1990 from University of Wollongong (UoW), and DSc in 2007 from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Since 1992, he has been with UNSW School of Materials Science and Engineering. Currently he is Scientia Professor, directing a world-class research facility "Lab for Simulation and Modeling of Particulate Systems (SIMPAS)". He is also Director of the Australia-China Joint Research Centre for Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials (3-M Centre). Professor Yu has made many significant contributions and is recognized as an authority in particle packing, particle and particle-fluid flow, particulate and multiphase processing, and simulation and modeling. He has authored >750 publications (including >420 collected in the ISI Web of Science), and delivered many invited plenary/keynote presentations at various international conferences. He is Editor of Powder Technology (2013-) and Particuology (2008-2013), having served on the editorial board of >10 learned journals including Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, Powder Technology, Granular Matter, and ISIJ International. Professor Yu is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards/fellowships including CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellowship, ARC Queen Elizabeth II, Australian Professorial and Federation Fellowships, Josef Kapitan Award from Iron and Steel Society (ISS), Ian Wark Medal from Australian Academy of Science, ExxonMobile Award from Australian and New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers, and NSW Scientist of Year 2010 in the category of engineering, mathematics and computer science. He was elected to Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) in 2004, and Australian Academy of Science (AAS) in 2011.
