The Great Fatwa is a book by Ibn Taymiyyah. The book includes hundreds of fatwas that Ibn Taymiyyah was asked about and answered, and the book is arranged according to jurisprudential topics. Taqi al-Din Abu al-Abbas Ahmad bin Abd al-Halim bin Abd al-Salam al-Numayri al-Harrani (661 AH - 728 AH / 1263 AD - 1328 AD), known as Ibn Taymiyyah. He is a jurist, hadith scholar, commentator, and diligent Muslim scholar among the scholars of the Sunnis and the community. He is one of the most prominent Muslim scholars during the second half of the seventh century and the first third of the eighth century AH. Ibn Taymiyyah grew up in the Hanbali school of thought, and he took Hanbali jurisprudence and its principles from his father and grandfather. He was also one of the diligent imams in the school of thought. He used to issue fatwas on many issues, unlike the authoritative Hanbali school of thought, based on what he saw as being consistent with the evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah, then the opinions of the Companions and the traces of the predecessors.
