Doing proofs is a painful task for students who just moved from the calculus sequence that is purely computational, and enter into the new world of advanced mathematics where the rules of the game are completely different; everything has to be proven. The title of the book, Transition, aims to reflect the process that students are going through, evolving from their present stage of mathematical abilities into one that is more advanced and sophisticated. In order to reach this new level of mathematical maturity, they have to embark on this voyage of discovery of a complete new mathematical world.

- Dr. Gerardo Aladro is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from The Pennsylvania State University. He has several publications in the field of Several Complex Variables and on teaching effectiveness in mathematics.
